TOGO: Nawdm First Old Testament Translation
Togo, a West African country bordered by Ghana, Benin, Burkina Faso, and the Gulf of Guinea, has 40 Indigenous languages, but only a few of these have a complete Bible translation. This limits access to God’s Word for millions, especially with high illiteracy rates preventing many from reading available translations.
While French is the official language, only a third of the population speaks it fluently, further restricting engagement with the Bible. Over a million Togolese lack a complete Bible in their native language. This project aims to address this need by completing the first Old Testament translation for the Nawdm-speaking population in Togo.

The first Nawdm OT Bible Translation project
- Togo is home to 40 Indigenous languages but only a few have a complete Bible translation of their own.
- Illiteracy prevents many in Togo from reading and engaging with the Bible translations that do exist.
- New believers in remote towns and villages cherish God’s Word, but often, a single Bible is shared among an entire family.
- The first Nawdm OT Bible Translation project will supply the Nawdba people with the resource they need for Spiritual growth.
“It was a great joy for me to have my own Bible.”
